About Me

Greetings, my name is Om Patel. I am a senior and President of the FBLA Chapter at James Clemens High School. I was born and raised in Southern California till the age of 12 until I moved to Nashville, Tennessee during the summer of 2018. In the winter of 2018 my family once again relocated to North Bergen, New Jersey. The following summer of 2019 my family set out to possibly relocate back to Tennessee, although in our far journey down South we ended up in the town of Madison, Alabama. Since that summer my family and I have resided in “Sweet Home Alabama”. I love this place. What can I say? I like to think that leaving California was one of the best things that happened, yes I still love the West Coast. Though the experience of being on the move every six months helped me grow from the child I was into the matured man I have become today. Seeing my single mother struggle to make ends meet month in and month out, it taught me to learn to survive on my own. Looking back, I think my mom’s success is truly the most inspiring fillip in my character development. Speaking of the present day, my family and I own a gas station in Madison. Yes I know, you might say that sounds like typical Indian people stuff. But I love this “typical Indian people stuff”, it gives me the opportunities to connect with customers from all around my community. This is one of my favorite hobbies, I love to meet new individuals in my local community. A man of perspectives. I like to look at situations through others' perspectives. At the end of the day I believe the way I comprehend situations will never be the same as others' comprehension. A great story is not a great story without the highs and lows, and there have been myriad. Here I stand though, through every high and low and many more to come. There is no other way I could have gone about this. Through new places, friends, and experiences it has been a long journey. Though I suppose this is not the end of the road, there will still be many more experiences to pen down in the years to come. I continue my life with the old saying in Hindi, “Zindagi badi jio, lambi nahi”. Live life large, not long. With the warmest regards, Om Patel
